For the first Directed Studies Colloquium of the spring 2025 semester, we were joined by graphic novelist and artist Gareth Hinds who discussed his process when adapting the texts of classics including Homeric epics like the Iliad and the Odyssey as well as Shakespeare plays like Romeo & Juliet and The Merchant of Venice. Hinds also showed us his drawing methods, and gave examples in his work of how classical texts come to life in graphic novel form.
