DS Screening: Frankenstein

The final DS colloquium event of the 2025-26 year was a screening of Guillermo del Toro’s Oscar-winning adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. The movie was introduced by Film & Media Studies scholars Marijeta Bozovic (Professor of Slavic Languages and Literatures; Film and Media Studies; Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies) and Francesco Casetti (Sterling Professor of Humanities and Film and Media Studies). Students were asked to not only compare the film to their reading of Shelley’s novel, but also to think about adaptation as a way to approach classic literary works more generally. And it was a lot of fun!
