Virginia Woolf, women authors, and the Directed Studies syllabus

Event time:
Friday, April 17, 2020 - 12:00am to 11:45pm
Event description:

On Friday, April 17, more than twenty current Directed Studies students gathered via zoom to discuss Virginia Woolf’s To The Lighthouse with special guests Professor Yeazell, Professor Slanski, and Professor Lindskog. The literature forum concluded the inaugural year of the student-led initiative “60 Minutes in Present Politics, Philosophy, and Prose.” The group discussed Woolf’s place in the canon, especially given her role as a female author and as a student of ancient texts. Despite the challenges of remote learning, the students came together to learn more about how Woolf and all of the DS authors have adapted to other societal challenges, reflecting on how our readings teach us to better face today’s problems.
